“deal represents a roughly 1% premium to Kirkland’s 10-day volume weighted average price”
Now that’s shocking. What gives?
KL was rising against the downtrend in anticipation of the deal.
In my 40 years of watching the miner space I have never seen an acquisition benefit the shareholder.
Fuck the shareholder? Yes. Many times.
Considered a merger of equals. There will be both a number of mergers of equals and larger firms buying reserves(takeovers) over the next two years or so.
Absolutely no value to shareholders of KL other than to jettison existing management and replace it with another. In meantime, senior executives will get mega years worth of change of control premiums. Describing this as a “merger of equals” is an insult to Agnico Eagle……..
I have never owned shares in either. Together they will be better able to compete with the big boys of the industry. May or may not benefit the shareholders, which despite what boards say they strive for has never been the objective of any company. Managements and boards are only concerned with themselves.
