Australians Need To Decide If This Is The Kind Of Country We Want To Live In From Now On
“Okay, if you don’t want to oppose police brutality on principle without making it about the supposed ideological positions of its victims then that’s your right. But surely you don’t think the normalization of this kind of violence is something that’s only going to affect people you disagree with politically going forward, do you? Surely you’re not naive and narcissistic enough to believe the many dramatic deviations from normal policing protocol we’ve been experiencing during these protests will be rolled back when you personally no longer deem them necessary?
Because that would be a very silly thing to believe. The way police are dealing with protesters today is the way they’re going to deal with them from now on, unless we do something. And in order for that something to be done we’re going to first have to collectively ask ourselves, is this the kind of country we want to live in from now on?”
“How far is too far? Looking at the footage that’s been circulating these past few days, I would say that too far is in our rearview mirror right now. Time to hit reverse and start saying no.”

I would entirely agree with her. Problem is, how does one say “enough is enough” and actually get heard?
From what I can see in Canada, the vast majority think it’s perfectly reasonable to treat the unvaxxed as second class citizens. They still believe this is about health. They still believe people like me should be punished for going against the grain. That if only everyone would obey the government and get vaccinated, that all this would go away. That rules and restrictions and police brutality are “for the common good”
So for all those who think this is somehow the fault of the average Australian (or Canadian in my case) could someone please enlighten me as to what more I should be doing? I protest. I do my best to educate myself and others. I stand up for my rights.
But if one lives in a country where the majority are too stupid to believe what’s really going on, it’s a matter of time before this dystopia becomes forever entrenched as the new normal. Other countries are fortunate. They may have a strong leader. Or they may have a populace that unites and says “no more”.
If, like Canada, we have neither, then what more can one person do?
