   There were more than a couple rather elite persons who were in some odd circles back then, seemingly with a tolerance or taste for the violent and flashy. I believe a good rule of thumb is that violent+flashy can mean doing a job. Violent and flashy stuff typically helps those in power more than anyone else. Some such people after their “revolutionary” stage went on to nice positions in society (at least as high as their parents’). They possibly could have been noticed and taken aside in their elite colleges or even elite high schools for grooming and training before becoming seemingly radicalized.

   I once picked up a booklet by Alinsky at a left wing book store and leafed through it. My reaction: this is manipulative reactionary filth. It is a good handbook for doing well in government or business though, I think. I would think it might be ideal for political or corporate leaders of almost any persuasion.

   On the topic of violent and flashy, I saw the assertion today, I think on a leftist site, that one of the founders of the corporatist entity BLM did time for trying to bomb the Capitol in 1983 but was later pardoned by WC Clinton. I have not verified and may be spreading misinformation.

     In 1983 the Capitol Building was bombed by a group including Susan Rosenburg, who later was sentenced to 58 years for terrorist offences. She was pardoned and her sentence commuted by President Clinton.
     She now sits on the board of Black Lives Matter.

       I picked up a pamphlet by him, as noted, leafed through it and saw it as pure filth. I didn’t even want to keep it in the filth department at home.

       Although many leftists see me as a mere liberal or more often as a right-winger, I am more radical left than anything if you use labels. I know the territory.

       There are multiple fault lines in the left. One of the big ones is honesty versus manipulation. It correlates with wanting people to organize themselves vs wanting to control them. One group wants self-organization then self-governance by those who are enlightening themselves as they go. The other extreme–and I suppose it’s a continuum–just wants power and will do any manipulation to get it.

       But Satan even as a joke? Identifying yourself as less than well-intentioned? Usually the sleaze make the pretense of saying they are doing it For The Masses since they masses haven’t quite caught up to them in enlightenment, yet.

         Karl – if I wrote a book “Rules for Conservatives” and in the introductory pages I also noted that Reagan was a conservative would there be a reasonable parallel between invoking Reagan and appealing to my target audience?

         Something doesn’t have to be explicit to be reasonably inferred by a reasonable person.
         It’s what the left hides behind all the time – Plausible Deniability. I wouldn’t say Alinsky was a satanist but I wouldn’t dismiss it either… just don’t know, but seems odd at the very least.
