Here is where much of the best in “right wing” and “left wing” critiques come together.
For example it is almost purely out of Marx’s Capital. You give the proletariat – or at least that part of it you want handy to be able to service you – enough to get by until you might want handy to service you. They are disposable commodities but they have to be serviced just enough (vaccinated, tuned up, dumbed down, not to strong or weak) so that they are at the ready for the desired actions when called upon. (Capital when read correctly does not clearly distinguish between private capital and the State incidentally – there’s no clear borderline except for musty fusty ideologues, the typical pretentious idiots who preen about.)
