Well, you have to be to invest in PMs, which are, for the most part, an endless nightmare. Meanwhile, fortunes were made in the biggest bull market in the history of the world…right across the street.
You nailed it, Sir Fully.
Obscure is the keyword.
We are not in a popularity contest.
Even good analysts e.g. Jordan Roy Byrne, tout big names.
GDX, GOAU, big majors … I think it is more and more difficult to make profits from them, unless you can time it very very well.
Yes, in fact just 3-4 10-baggers nicely paper over other lossy junior rocks.
It is the lack of returns from the majors that worries me more. They not only use up more capital (e.g. investing 5k or 10k USD in one big name like NEM) because they give you lesser number of shares.
Oh, and by the way, why just “10” baggers? Why not 15-baggers or 35-baggers or higher?
The key, IMHO, is to take healthy profits, by selling 30-40-50% in such outperformers, go to zero-cost or even negative-cost on the remaining position.
This has been my greatest learning in 2019 and 2020.
Fully, you are such a dreamer.
