Mankind has survived for thousands of years and now we need this. Just as gold and silver futures trading was introduced in the early 70’s to surpress their prices, trading water futures is eventually going to lead to supply shortages and price gouging. Leave it to some billionaire and or financial institution to try and corner the market for huge profits while causing misery for farmers and even individuals. I don’t follow. If gold futures suppressed prices, why would water futures lead to price gouging (increased prices)? Gold went from 180 in 1975 to 1870 currently, a ten-fold increase over a 45 year span which is a 5.35% annual return (if I did the math right!). Not stellar, but I’m not sure gold futures suppressed its price.
