   I probably post more here than anyone, particularly stock picks. I have always taken ownership of them all, including the bad ones, which I often acknowledge myself. I don’t mind being questioned, challenged, even tweaked on any of my posts. I do dislike trolls who never contribute, but love to criticize.

   Only down 75% off the highs.

   Strong dissent.
   That said … I could see a retest of 1.14 by mid spring. From a lower level.

     Pedro, who cares where it was in 2016, I have recommended it starting months ago at below .70 and again near .70. You can disagree that it is not a good stock, fine, but don’t make it look like I liked it at 3 when I have only been here since late April.

     Many have PM stocks have declined, while there fundamentals have improved over the past 3-4 years! Juniors have been taken to the woodshed!

     I’d rather buy GSV at 0.70, if it goes lower I buy more!
     Thank God, the FAANGs gang are oblivious of the miners! I wonder how much they make and how often?

     Ahem, as long as we are taking pot shots, at least cyclists have a basis (based on empirical data mind you) for their calls, and most cyclists also use investor sentiment and technical analysis to reinforce their calls.

       You can have all the empirical data in the world. If you keep having if this or then that calls they are worthless. I’d rather be clear, make specific calls, be wrong sometimes, but bat over 500 and the winners more than make up for the losers.

         It’s called managing risk. You wait for a swing low in the timing band for an ICL and you take a swing. In a bull market, nearly any timing mistake can still be profitable, so even if you screw it up by a few weeks you should still be ok.

         Still its better to buy gold right here (34 weeks into an IC) than 20 weeks into an IC when it was at $2000+.

         And at least I provide a rationale for my thoughts, so that other users can understand WHY I feel the way I do at any given time. Not so much with your “Buy it now, I am God” proclamations with no analysis whatsoever.

           Nowhere has Sir Chartsmaster proclaimed “I am God”

           What is wrong with “buy it now”? Is Sir Chartsmaster saying to bet the house/farm on a miner?

           The “buys” are in measured size, to each their own.

           Hundreds of analysts use EW, I don’t see an point in labeling oneself as a cycles/EW believer versus denier … does making money “taste better” if you are a believer or a denier?

           My point was that he doesn’t provide any rationale (or the most minimal possible) for his calls. It’s typically “Buy X stock now” with no explanation or “Buy gold in November” with no explanation. Maybe that’s where the dart landed for all we know.

           All my calls on based on my interpretation of the chart. So there is no explanation that goes along with it. Sometimes a member will ask me a questionon why this particular call or what aspect of the chart makes me recommend it. I do my best to answer. I find the more analysis attached to calls ie. reasons, the less useful they are. I believe “everything” is baked into the chart and that is what matters.

           When you tell the public to “BACK UP THE TRUCK”, that would imply a lot of things. When you make a statement like that attached to something that immediately goes down with just a blank 6 months chart, you are left open to comments and criticism. “Tomorrow morning BEFORE the market in NY opens they release earnings. I don’t know if they will be good or not. I don’t care. The chart says the stock is going higher from here” How could you say something like that when you are recommending the company? Disclaimer or not in the corner of the site, when your title says BUY NOW, there is much to be skeptical about when you show no technicals. No mention of a way to protect yourself if it goes down. This is why you changed Buy now , to I’m buying here.

     I did try to get “into” it and it is way too complex for my feeble brain

     Chartology is simpler and works for me .

     To each his own…but I agree regarding EW being the best TA discipline in Hindsight

       It absolutely IS too complex. That’s why I don’t DO IT either.
       Its hard to do for ONE security, never mind a wider landscape.
       But I understand it well enough to READ it when done by others.
       That’s ALL I need. I can check their ideas against my work.
       That is a lot of what I use it for.

       And I can also discern good from great from poor.
       And their ideas give me FOREWARNING, unlike most other tools.
       My own work in Feb warned of a topping move, but it was EWers that spoke to its potential for a drop to 2100 SPX. NO ONE ELSE was making that call.

     And remember, in its purest form, all cycles are trying to do is time buys at cycle lows based on the average cycle length (measured from trough to trough). In a bull market, each trough will be higher than the last. It’s not exactly rocket science. The last ICL for gold came in March and I don’t think it’s much of a stretch to assume the next trough will be higher than the one made back then. Since most gold ICs last on average 24-30 weeks and coupled with the fact that an IC will break its trend line before it bottoms, cycles are helpful in timing buys in a bull market (or covering shorts in a bear market). Couple that with investor sentiment and basic TA and its better than throwing darts as you say.

     CM … I’m not your cycles guy at all. And while I use EW to COMMUNICATE my views (as a semi shared language), that’s not how I analyze charts.

     Since you’ve only been around here since April … my arrival was in 2015 or so … I’ve explained my inability to post my own analysis because my charting work is in four dimensions, not the two most use. I’m not aware of anyone claiming the use of similar although software is out there for professional use that can do it. I’m sure we’re trading against deep pockets using tools like that. Its still only as good as the coding and backtesting so its not infallible. And I should conclude by saying my work allows me to more confidently trade on timing than stock picking, so I’ll rent the 3x vehicles rather than “invest” in individual shares. I do hold coins with a very low basis VLT.

   I didn’t change it, the editor changed it(rightly so because he is responsible in stating the disclosure). I didn’t realize that was the way it should be framed and he made me aware of it. The reason I sometimes state that earnings are coming out and I don’t care what they are because I am a pure chartist and technician who figures the stock is going to act in the direction regardless of the earnings. How many times have you seen a good earnings report only to see the stock fall or a bad one where the stock rises? It’s usually how the marketplace reacts to what is said about the future not the earnings that relect the past. Sometimes I get the chart interpretation wrong and the stock goes the other way. As far as telling people about risk control that is up to them. I usually invest for long term. I am not day trading nor scalping and don’t use margin so I don’t use stops and don’t worry about losses. They are a part of investing as long as they are smaller and less frequent than gains.
