WHO IS NOW URGING LEADERS NOT TO USE LOCKDOWNS TO CONTROL VIRUS
AND
The WHO’s decision to temper support for lockdowns comes after several world health officials met and hashed out a petition called the Great Barrington Declaration, which argued that lockdowns are doing “irreparable damage.”
“As infectious disease epidemiologists and public health scientists, we have grave concerns about the damaging physical and mental health impacts of the prevailing COVID-19 policies, and recommend an approach we call Focused Protection,” read the petition.
The Trump administration cited the Great Barrington Declaration during a phone conference Monday, with one official telling reporters that Trump has said for several months that “the cure cannot be worse than the disease” adding “these prolonged lockdowns are specifically damaging to the middle class ” The official also called lockdowns a “luxury of the rich.,” and expressed support for the declaration, arguing that the Trump administration believes in aggressive mitigation efforts but not locking down entire economies.
The WHO has lost all credibility, so any statement from them is viewed as unreliable.
