PSLV safe?
Sprott likes to quip, ” Your silver is protected by NATO”. That is supposed to reassure investors that even if the Canadian Mint is attacked, soldiers would rush there to protect their PMs. With governments out of control and attacking their own people, the once safe haven of the Canadian Mint seems a lot less safe than it did a year ago. How can anyone trust the State Mafia who, with a decree, can steal anything they want? Thoughts?
You are absolutely correct. Although, in the past, there were procedures that needed to be followed that gave investors and citizens “peace of mind” that protections were in place, when push comes to shove the governments can and always do whatever they want. It is just more blatant now, but you always have to be concerned about confiscation and seizure and arbitrary rules. Look at emminent domain and asset forfeiture.
If I had millions in bullion, I would probably first resort to a private depository for storage. Otherwise keep it at home, either in a safe or hiding it with some “midnight gardening.”
Governments will eventually go to (even more) extreme measures to retain control, like capital controls, confiscation, windfall taxation etc.
Nothing may be left standing in the coming years. Which of course is their goal.
Storage within ANY Western jurisdiction is now high risk.
Depressing and sad, though that is reality.
