I beg to differ.
It is unclear whether it is correct to disparage other people without evidence of what is going on in their minds*. Even if one knows what is going on in their minds, and knows them to be badly wrong, it may be unhelpful to disparage them with insulting language. It may help set them in their ways.
It also is, in my opinion, of dubious strategy to be complacent about one’s own grasp of the situation, or a situation. Even if one is largely correct, the way one is not completely correct may be the key to the essence of how one is wrong and how one is going to be ineffective or counterproductive. Patting one’s self on the back is also a turn-off to many, or even patting one’s fellow little group member’s on their backs.
* People who do not seem to agree are inhomogeneous. Some are too busy to have thought–people are extremely burdened by duties and stresses of diverse sorts. Some are intimidated if only by what the spouse or parents will say (get cut out of will or allowance cut, get kicked out of house…). Some may be waiting for others to speak out, for example an eloquent political candidate with a reasonable chance of getting elected. Some may be ambivalent or see contradictory evidence. Some may be just starting to think differently. I could list many other possibilities.
We wonderful they stupid is probably at very best only such a gross approximation of reality to be, well, wrong, and in any case a remarkable way to articulate a situation if one wants to provoke re-thinking. It may help some people to rethink, but probably not many. Not that such people are probably looking here, I admit.
