   It was supposed to be a sign of progress that two parents often worked full time to bring in enough income to support a family to about the standard of living that one parent brought in previously (if there was a family with two parents, and if they could find work, and if they could find childcare for off-hours provided one didn’t work at night and the other during the day). That was the public relations presentation as the top layers extracted more and more out of the lower layers to make up for military expenditures and faltering overall economy.

   I am glad that I do not have school age kids now. How do two parents bring in income yet avoid getting charged with child neglect for leaving children at home unattended? Perhaps there will be openings for new-normal truant officers to mind not just the kids (to make sure they are studying) but also the parents to make sure that at least one of them is staying home with the kids if there is no nanny.

   An alternative might be child-care operations where minimum wages are given out to attendants child care facilities so teachers can be let go. Making teachers redundant would be an excellent opportunity to repossess their homes and other possessions, rendering them homeless, and so forth. There are occasional teachers who are independent minded and a nuisance. These ones first.

   Many schools have tended to become more and more like child-care centers anyway. There can be debates about whether it is the teachers’ fault, the administrators’ fault, but I personally think the answers are often not clear cut and depend on the situation while having ultimately to do with the overall societal arrangement of things without individual sets of culprits.

   As an alternative to childcare centers, perhaps the children, diapered even when older with ready-made lunches, can be left tied or chained in front of their computers at home, with a panic button in case there is an emergency.

   The deal will soon be – the media, sport/hollywood celebrity ‘spokes people’ and political powers “can’t” relax the Covid paranoia campaign until everyone is vaccinated – ie. never until of course the dissenters can be rounded up and re-educated. Yale Univ has been studying how to effectively ‘sell’ this message since May.
