Sports Without Fans
Watching a ballgame for the first time this year Jays in Boston at Fenway Park .
I love baseball , have been waiting for this for what seems an eternity
BUT…it’s ridiculous !
Not the same without human beings there ….
A real empty feeling !
sheesh
PS…it’s not baseball without spitting !
PPS…the coaches and some extra players are wearing masks but they pulled them down and are not covering their noses…I see that in the stores here too. Must be a fine for indecent nose exposure .
🙂
Me and my son go for a half-hour run around the school track behind our house everyday and one day this guy, sitting on the bleachers watching us said “You guys are the only sports we can watch now.” I didn’t know what he was talking about until later because I don’t follow sports. The lockdown has really gutted society.
The whole 2017-18 NFL kneeling debacle revealed to me that there are powers above those of individual managers/owners that are pulling the strings – the NFL,
NBA and more recently Nascar is a cash cow for some entity of which I will only surmise to myself. Why are they on the same page message-wise and why are they suddenly vocal about it – BLM, mask wearing, we’re all in this together messaging BS? Somebody somewhere is laughing to themselves – “stupid americans, key parts of their media political and corp. leadership (read “influencers”) will sell their country, values and culture for a buck – too easy.
It is interesting to see how basketball and football will fare. I often turn the sound down if the announcers are yapping to much. Basketball with its emphasis on individual artistry might do the best. But there is no doubting that crowds are a super important element of the fun.
As for the national anthem, nothing can beat singing it a Ft Mchenry on the fourth of july while unfurling that grand garrison flag.
