Conservative vs Liberals
Personally I would say I have always been in the center on the political spectrum ( an endangered species indeed)
I have seen both sides and aligned at different points in my life with either view often depending on the leadership and the issues of the day .
But when you get right down to basics I am and always have been more of a Conservative….with some Liberal tendencies.
So it is with great excitement that I was fortunate enough to chance upon A website which explains
the difference in a way I never heard before (well I didn’t exactly chance upon it …thanks pedro deleon )
This is the sentence that caught my attention and rings SO TRUE for me .
“The conservative believes in abundance. The liberal believes in scarcity.”
The Author of this piece is a guy known as Sundance …apparently many of you follow him. I take it he lives in a Tree .
Fully, this post gives me hope. Thanks.
Hey Fully, are you beginning to think I am Tyler Durden? I might be…

One of the problems, Fully, is that most people have never been exposed to the intellectual underpinnings of conservative thought. Where once they were taught religiously, they are now taught not at all, and spoken of in the most cartoonish ways. Young people have scorn and contempt for an ideology they understand not a whit, yet many of them are willing to commit violence to have it abolished. They may be fools, but they are also dangerous.
I have decided that I am conservative and you all are liberals. All you do is traffic in fear mongering.
OK, I am mostly conservative on fiscal things and semi-liberal on social issues. It is not a bad place to be. If you are a trump supporter, you are neither liberal or conservative — You are just a victim of a total con job.
Who is Donald Trump?
He’s a guy who DEMANDS performance. ..And more importantly; RESULTS!! He spent his entire life in the private sector where you either produce or get your ass fired!
He’s a guy who asks lots of questions. ..And the questions he asks aren’t cloaked in fancy “political” phrases; they are “Why the hell…?” questions.
For decades the health industry has thrown away billions of face masks after one use. …Trump asks, “Why are we throwing them away? Why not sterilize them and use them numerous times?” (Good question.)
He’s the guy who gets hospital ships readied in one week when it would have taken a bureaucrat weeks or months or never to get it done.
He’s the guy who gets temporary hospitals built in three days.
He’s the guy who gets auto industries to restructure to build ventilators in a business that’s highly regulated by agencies that move like sloths.
He’s the guy who asks “Why aren’t we using drugs that might work on people who are dying; what the hell do we have to lose?” (Another good question.)
He’s the guy who restricted travel from China when the democrats and liberal media were screaming “xenophobia” and “racist.” ..Now they’re wanting to know why he didn’t react sooner? When he shut down the borders in the early days of the corona virus, the democrats screamed even LOUDER. ..Then the rest of the world, including the European Union quickly restricted travel between their own member countries.
He’s the guy who campaigned on securing the border – protecting America – in the face of screaming democrats and the liberal media. …And these SAME leaders of your democrat party (both the Clintons, Chucky Schumer, Harry Reed, Barack Obama, Maxine Waters, Nancy Pelosi et al…) ALL were in FAVOR of constructing the wall ‘UNTIL’ Trump had the fortitude to actually do it!!!
Now your comeback might be: ‘Oh, he said Mexico was going to pay for it’.. Does that ring a bell? Well let me quickly set you straight on this one: Have you compared the old EXTREMELY one-sided NAFTA agreement (negotiated by none other than Jimmy ‘peanuts’ Carter) with the NEW U.S.M.C. agreement? Well I have…And let me tell you this: Mexico will now end up paying much MORE for your goods than you will for theirs…And why you might ask?? Because they’re far more reliant on the U.S. than you are of them. Yes, it will take time but the bottom line is;…They WILL end up paying for the wall just like Trump said all along!
Has Trump made mistakes? ..Of course. You can’t fault a person for being a human being. Only ONE perfect man walked this earth 2000 years ago, Jesus!
Everyone I know has made mistakes and continues to make them and LEARNS from them.
Trump is, and has accomplished more than any U.S. President in my lifetime. He puts in 18 to 20 hour days. He isn’t hiding in his office; he’s out front – Briefing – ALL Americans almost every day.
According to democrats and liberal media, when he offers hope he’s lying, and when he’s straight forward he should be hopeful. It’s a no-win situation for him every day with the haters and naysayers, but he is NOT deterred.
I’ll take THIS kind of leadership 6 days a week and TWICE on Sunday over a “polished, nice guy” politician who has seldom or never held a real private sector job in his or her adult life, reads prepared and “written by a speech-writer” speeches from a teleprompter and ONLY answers pre-scripted questions selected for him/her prior to the open forum. (Sorry folks, but that’s EXACTLY what your previous POTUS did.)
I am completely mystified as to why this man has been bombarded by the media and liberal electorate EVERY day since back in 2015 when he announced his run for the U.S. presidency.
..And whether you want to believe it or not, Americans, let me tell you one more thing, if you REALLY think that Hillary would have accomplished even a fraction of the things for the betterment of the American public that POTUS Trump has, you’ve really got your head in the sand.
I am proud to say that Trump is MY President! – For the good of America, you’d better hope he’s re-elected this November.
I DO!!
PK spot on brother. You need to contact the campaign and be running his reelection effort. Absolutely correct and articulate!
I received this as an email today from my financial advisor. Written by a Canadian. Widely circulated in the Jewish community.
I started off on the left, then through life experience learned what the essay is talking about, and could never go back to leftwing beliefs.
Go thru the list of Dems and Liberals vs Republicans and Conservatives. There are a few exceptions on both sides but for the large majority the Dems(liberals) are career politicians who have never run a business or worked in private industry. They are “parasites” who live off the system. They like to claim they are career public servants but the only serving that goes on is to their own careers. They get rich by using and abusing their power. Republicans for the most part come to Congress or govt. after owning businesses or working in corporate jobs. They earn their wealth and then go to serve and give back something. Again you can pick out the few exceptions on each side but if you do the research not just the current crop but throughout history that is the way it plays out for the most part.
Right on Chartsmaster.
You can add, “The conservative believes in the individual, the liberal believes in the state.”
And, “The conservative believes people know what’s best for themselves, liberals believe they know what’s best for everyone else but themselves.”
And, “The conservative believes government needs to be restricted and controlled, liberals believe the bigger and more powerful the government is, the better.”
Now, how on earth do you stand “in between” those schools of thought? You can’t. There is no middle ground. You are either on one side or the other. Or you suffer from an incredibly bad case of cognitive dissonance.
Bingo, Sb. Middle of the road is what got us here.
silverboom: You have set up what is called a false dichotomy based on severely over-simplifying the two sides. You can’t stand between those two schools of thought because in reality those polar opposites don’t exist in the real world. Things are mostly a shade of gray. (OK, I guess there are some extreme wingnuts out there).
Four years ago I would have been considered part libertarian, part liberal and part conservative. Nowadays, with no real changing of my beliefs, I somehow ended up in the antifa camp.
The point is to be as correct as possible. To be correct as possible means sticking to fact and looting any and all perspectives.
One of the many great things about Marx and Engels is that they explicitly attacked all ideology for being ideology. Their litter-mate (same approximate era, Zeitgeist) Nietzsche did the same in a different way. (Not that all 3 didn’t succumb all too much to ideology themselves.) Ideology is limiting. It sucks. It sucks intelligence and life.
Facts yes. Ideology no.
It is not a badge of honor to identify with this or that way of thinking, or to wear it as some idiot teenager wears some brand. You take advantage of aspects some perspective to think for yourself and reinvent, right, left, center, above, below, sideways, all, none.
