On average every day 7,500 people die in the USA.
On average presently about 500 of these are said to be covid related .
Today will be half of that
So 97% of the people who will die today in USA do not die from Covid.
This is morbid stuff but this disease is NOT the BIG killer it is said to be.
And yet states are locking down again !

The corona con is almost spent. It only affects Karens now. Soon even they will breathe a sigh of relief. Although, regular re-occurances of “pandemic panic” will, no doubt, follow.
I have a report to make of some masking observations; also of a personal solution.
Today I went hiking just outside a large urban area in a region that was hard hit by Covid-19, but where things look good now. Nevertheless we are all supposed to be wearing masks, even on the trails. This is an area controlled by the “Democratic” party where there is minimal overt opposition to any of the official Covid policy.
Over the past weeks I have noted that it has gone from at least about half-and-half compliance with mask-wearing on days when trails were nearly empty to only sporadic mask wearing, and then sometimes only for encounters, even on busy days. Today I thought there was almost winking by no-mask wearers. I believe I saw various people putting their masks on just for encounters–both sets of parties from both directions, both (maybe I was imagining things) looking reluctant.
Today there were lots of people so I am almost comfortable at making a stab at demographics. Blacks seemed least likely to wear masks, but whites pretty close. Those of east asian ancestry seemed the most likely but even some of them looked reluctant (some put on just for encounters). Sample size for other groups too small today. I will say that people looked rather jolly, especially the people without masks, as if they were pleased with themselves, but maybe I was imagining things.
I don’t think there was much enthusiasm or respect for the rules, in other words. And I don’t see why. I was a strong supporter, out of the precautionary principle, when the various rules were in place for a couple of weeks or so to prevent the ICUs from being overcrowded. Now they aren’t.
I however did wear a mask all the time. I wore it dangling from 1 ear. I felt this methodology was good for those w/o masks, and it enabled me to put the mask on completely out of respect for the wishes of those who wore masks. I also practiced wiggling 1 ear only with a mask dangling from it as I walked. Never say I can’t do 2 things at 1 time.
Oh, there was one odd incident. I went off on a small barely used side trail so as not to offend anyone when I had to relieve myself. Someone however crept up and surprised me just as I finished. He had a balaclava totally covering his face other than just his eyes even though it was summer weather. I would not have been able to identify him other than by his body build and his recognizable non-English accent from when he said, “Good Morning.” Maybe he was playing superhero with his mask on.

Seriously …just excellent observations and extremely meaningful in my opinion.
Here we have a generally compliant dutiful population on a beautiful summer day in an area where the “virus” is waning
and these citizens have decided to cautiously discard their masks and enjoy nature “illegally”

I love this story..especially the part where you are wearing you mask on one ear.
Also that you got “caught” taking a leak by the only masked man on the trail.
Lets hope he doesn’t turn you in for indecent exposure.
I Think it is absolutely ridiculous to require people outside to wear a mask in sweltering heat…TOXIC is the word…Morons.

I live in a rural County which has a very strict and uncompromising Public Health Czar.
There are maybe 1 or 2 new cases a day in the whole area and no hospitalizations but this idiot “doctor” has decided masks MUST be worn in every business in this county
5 minutes down the road is another county…no masks are mandated there.
It is like 2 different worlds
Maybe 10% of the population wears a mask in Simcoe Cty.
So of course I do all my shopping there…this idiot doctor is destroying commerce in her little fifedom.
