Face Mask Experiment
The results of this experiment suggest that face masks can be effective at capturing bacteria laden droplets expelled via sneezing, talking, singing, and coughing.
Also, the effects of distance from source to target, with and without masks, suggest that social distancing can be effective. The experimental results are summarized in this video.
The video runs too quickly to be able to read all of the information on the slides, so you will need to start and stop the video as needed.
From the first slide, it appears that the type of mask used in the experiments is a basic surgical mask.
“Bacteria Laden Droplets” are NOT the problem here. Bacteria are HUGE compared to a virus.
Do we all of a sudden wan’t to capture all bacteria in a mask ?
Bacteria have been eminating from us forever and no one asked us to wear a mask to stop them.
The problem seems to be a virus that is so tiny that it just skates right thru the pores in the masks without even slowing down
These atom sized virus particles are airborn …not locked in droplets.
sheesh
And another thing
When you sneeze or cough you WANT to expel the “bacteria” in your system…with a mask that “catches” them…you just inhale them again.
Rememeber that the fist thing they told you was sneeze and cough into your elbow….that’s reasonable ….99.9% of the time though you are not sneezing you are breathing…or trying to ( if you have a mask)
Masks are NOT for sneezing into…they are for breathing into and they don’t do shit to stop virons.
And another thing…Singing ? Singing now is the cause of Covid ?
Are all singers now expected to wear a mask while singing ?
Mandate THAT to the “liberal” Country and Rock Stars and see if they agree it’s a good idea
sheesh squared
Homer are you alright ?
Fully, I understand that viruses are much smaller in size than bacteria, and bacteria are much smaller than water droplets expelled by humans.
My understanding is that viruses will adhere to the water droplets. Is that not correct? Do they repel each other?
Also, my understanding is that doctors and dentists wear surgical masks to protect patients from pathogens during surgery. Is this all just for show or do they actually work?
Its definately all for show
IF you can breath at all through a mask you will NOT just breath out pure CO2…there will also be pathogens in your exhalations.
ALL for show…if the patient is breathing and the dentist is breathing there are gazillions of bacteria and virons and who knows what in the air around them .
Actually the mask protects the dentist from all the crap that the drill stirs up …spit blood mucus and stuff like that is splattered everywhere. The Drill spins at 500,000 RPMs…and splatters water all over the tissues..with splash back. The suction cant catch everything.
For the first 20 plus years of my career we didn’t wear gloves or masks…and nobody I know died from contamination from a dentist. Masks were NOT even mandated …they were optional until now.
And do you know if ALL the virus particles are in the spit ?
or perhaps some are just free and airborn.
Now take off his glasses and test them for bacteria. Then test the gloves he used to put on and remove the mask. Then test his beard that itches like f*^K after wearing a mask. Then ask him to count backward from ten after breathing CO2 for a while. Then tell him, and his wife Karen, to get a life. There is no mystery here. There is no study that shows masks are an effective barrier to viral contamination. There are many that show masks to be ineffective.
Too much common sense there Strider…slow down 🙂
And, another thing! I have found that single malt whisky works well. I have some every evening and I am commie virus free. Coincidence? I think not!
For sure no self respecting virus could live in the environment .
🙂
I am sure you sip the whisky thru your mask…right
HAHA…
I have no mask,
I have no fear.
I have whisky,
and I keep it near.
The mask is simply a sign that the user has been fooled by bullshit.
Viruses are almost atomic particles.
So a mask is like using a wire mesh fence to trap dust particles.
The mask is effective for one thing: a stressed and therefore weakened immune system due to hypoxia
I believe it to be prudent to examine issues from multiple perspectives:
–from multiple directions
–ideally (if one has time and the necessary background) also distance — that is to say from both a distant perspective and from up close, having looked at and read the journal references.
Dialog is good. Letting things sink in is good. Not being too fixed is good. Or at least that’s the way I am, but I am bit slow on such things.
I am currently carrying out debates within myself.
Just on an esthetic sense I rather like masks because they are silly, but I feel they are silly under many circumstances.
I personally believe Homer provides some sound arguments. I am not sure why I should not be wary of cold and influenza corona virus particles in liquid droplets during cold and flu season, for example. I have often thought that East Asians were reasonable for wearing masks when they had colds or were wary of colds.
I also have various reasons for being inclined to think this mask compulsion may be getting way way out of hand.
It is time to think and discuss. If I would have this discussion with all of you outdoors in the sun at some distance (I generally always liked keeping my distance from strangers), preferably w/o masks, so as to see people’s expressions. (However the rules would be I could have a mask so I could hide my expressions so you wouldn’t know when I was joking.)
You have a right to wear a mask and i have a right to not wear one
Simple
But the Cretins want to take my right away.
They cannot do that without a Fight !!
lets assume the masks work and it actually protects the wearer from getting the virus
why should I be forced to wear it….everyone else is protected anyway? right?
so its my risk, my problem … not theirs.
or is this the Bolsheviks imposing their tyranny on the population, because they think they can.
Because the mask doesn’t really protect you, it protects other people around you. But somehow you seem to associate “liberty” with being free to infect others.
Sizes:
O2 = 292 picometers
covid-19 = 120,000 picometers
avg. bacteria 1,000,000 picometers
Just remember that covid-19 virus (and bacteria) group together with other things (water droplets) and don’t seem to sneak through one by one.
I like wearing masks because every time I have to run up and down stairs I feel like passing out, that way I don’t have to work as hard. 🙂
