Quebec Opened most ( ex Montreal) schools malls restaurants ( inside and outside) and basically EVERYTHING

several weeks ago . This was during a time when they had the most cases and deaths in Canada.

They opened in spite of this. Since then cases and deaths and hospitalizations have been dropping rapidly.

They are operating under the sane principle that the virus has burned thru the population and its PAST time to get on with life.

They have Not gone “crazy” testing everything that has a pulse…and now have decided to stop posting daily numbers. This is the first place anywhere that I have heard will do reporting only weekly now.

This is a very responsible decision IMO. get the people thinking about LIFE not DEATH statistics .

Bottom Line : 5,500 deaths in a population of 8,500,000 people.

80 + % of deaths were in Care Homes …equals about 1,000 deaths NOT in care homes

1,000 / 8,500,000 = .012 % or 1 in 8,500 in the general population.

YOU DO NOT CLOSE DOWN AN ECONOMY BASED ON A VIRUS WITH THAT KIND OF INFANTISIMAL MORTALITY RATE .

IF THERE IS A SECOND WAVE YOU LOCK DOWN CARE HOMES ONLY !

Similar statistics played or are playing out out virtually every place on the planet ( with a few exceptions )

Quebeckers are fortunate to have some of the very few evidence based reasoned public health officialsand politicians on the planet !
