Not that I don’t believe every person on this board but some of y’all have lost your damn mind. This is real despite the severity you choose to believe at this juncture. Do I believe this has deep rooted political motives, possibly. Do I believe this is dangerous to certain segments of the population, absolutely.
Thanks for the great article — except that I was staring to feel positive about it all. The article says we are in for a long slog. I do think that it is important that we stop saying “social distancing”. Maybe it is semantics, but words do matter.
There are a few missing pieces there imo.
1..We just learned that many ( most ? ) people do not get this disease. It’s not that they get it and their immune system builds an immunity with antibodies and all that . They call it cross immunity. Some colds that circulate perpetually are caused by corona viruses and the already standing antibodies from these are believed to offer cross immunity in many people.
If so…”herd” immunity is closer that we thought.
The prototypical “laboratory” for this concept was the Diamond Princess Ship.
Only 20% of the people on that ship…all who were exposed to the virus for weeks while onboard…via air conditioners and close contact with positive people …actually got infected.
In theory they ALL should have been infected . Why were the Not ?
Because NOT everybody is prone to becoming infected apparently and the most likely reason is cross immunity.
2….Another thing I noticed from this article is he says on average in the world…. 5% of the population has been infected .
5% of 8 Billion is 400 Million people have been infected and we have had 400,000 deaths…that is precisely .1%
similar to what is said to be the % for the flu

3….And another thing. he says covid is the leading cause of death
According to Worldometer live… about 160,000 people die every day.
about 4,000 of them are said to be from covid. Thats about 3%
So 97% of deaths today were NOT related to Covid.
More Good news …in a morbid sort of way.

there are 10 countries with higher per capita rates…look it up

A lot of misleading information in this piece that even a layman like I can see.
The take away for me was don’t let the immune compromised and elderly get this. According to the 2017 census 15% or roughly 50M people are over 65. I still don’t like the math until we at least see a better treatment plan. I am not holding my breath for a vaccine nor do I think I would get one. Bottom line this is still being pulled from the fog. Trust me, I want to be done with all this. Sadly, as most everybody here was aware even before we locked down, the damage to the economy was probably fatal.
