Need some help
I am based in the US and I have a TD Ameritrade acct. Since this Covid crap I have not been able to speak with a human on the phone. I am put on hold for hours! Ask Ted is also useless. So can I buy stocks on the TSXV with this account and what kind of fee is there. MIA for help.
Hi JSK, sorry you are having issues, it is frustrating trying to reach a bank, insurance company etc. I had a TDA account years ago and I could trade the TSXV. Since then a lot of brokers did away with it like eTrade. I am forced to go to the pink sheets. Presently I trade on eTrade and don’t care for it but I really like my Tastyworks account. They are the folks that sold Think or Swim to TDA and then opened a new, better platform, IMO.
Thanks AM for your reply. Currently there is no OTC listing for this company and they are using a shell ticker symbol, CMET.tsxv, until they get their TSXV symbol which will be RSLV for Reyna silver. If you are a MAG silver lover then you need to check this out!
You know I am a MAG lover. I will check them out, thanks JSK!

Appreciated, I have signed up and will watch broadcast later this eve.
I have accounts with Fidelity and TD Ameritrade, IRA and non-IRA, both (not particularly huge).
For some reason about a week ago I was able to get through to talk with someone in both–faster with Fidelity. Neither was able to help, but it was a problem with the particular stock not with either brokerage as it turned out — I won’t bore you with it.
In general although I have had my scattered problems with Fidelity and various irritants but have had moderately good luck with them compared to other large institutions, I have to admit. Not relevant to the topic of getting phone help, but I have had the strong impression that I’ve gotten better executions at Fidelity than TD Ameritrade and sense I’ve probably had slightly better customer service. I assume that like other institutions Fidelity will decline in customer service, but they have a way to go. In general for anything routine they are usually extremely good and sometimes they will surprise you by being good at handling an oddball request though many things out of the usual will sometimes throw them.
All may change with TD Ameritrade as Schwab assimilates TD Ameritrade.
YOW!
Got weird page when tried to go to http://www.tdameritrade.com . Nothing worked. To be sure, one of the browsers I tried was nonstandard, I was using Linux, I had some extensions and didn’t try turning them off.
Will wait and see. The Russians must have done it, cybertampering etc. Or maybe now it is the Chinese–they do these nasty things instead now: https://twitter.com/inthenow/status/1260985728802205703
My problem was apparently a technical problem tdameritrade were having all day, esp in recent hours, in parts of the US, according to downdetector.com . Now I can log on. I never thought tdameritrade was so wonderful but maybe they are falling apart to celebrate the takeover by Schwab.

Do consider looking at the little video linked to on twitter. I concocted an excuse to link to it because I thought it amusing. It’s several weeks old now.

One day we’ll all have millions upon millions of dollars or whatever the currency is in stock in these e-brokerages, want to cash out, encounter Technical Difficulties and multi-day hold times, and the markets will crash.
