We decided to wait for three years to have kids. My wife said to me, “By the way, we aren’t vaccinating them.” I was stunned. I said, “Are you insane?” That led to some pretty intense discussions. She basically told me to do some studying on the subject, and consider both sides. I found the prospect fascinating, so I took her up on it. In between jobs, I started to read up on vaccines, their history, efficacy, pros and cons. By the end of those three years, I took the decision not to vaccinate. I was surprised myself at how much information and deliberate disinformation is out there on the subject. I came to a decision based on research, with no predetermined view, except that i would show my wife how wrong she was. I’m not saying everyone will come to the same conclusions regarding vaccines. What I am saying is that, if you’re unwilling to put the time into actual research, you really can’t provide an informed opinion on the matter. Not everyone has the luxury or the patience to do what I did, but the grief I got from other parents at our church for even suggesting to them to maybe wait awhile before injecting their kids with attenuated viruses, and adjuvants never meant to go into the human body, was enough for me to keep my mouth shut from then on and wonder at the level of willful ignorance and blind trust in the medical establishment inherent in the majority of normally intelligent people.
