Happy New Gold Stock Bull Market to All
https://stockcharts.com/h-sc/ui?s=$GOLD:$INDU&p=W&yr=20&mn=0&dy=0&id=p43035222178&a=674393028&listNum=1Thanks Fully for letting me join this group. I have been a lurker since the start. I have been waiting for my $gold/$indu ratio chart to give one of its rare signals, last one twenty years ago, and I believe we are four trading days now into this baby bull. This is finally our time. I hope.
Chart link not working for me.
Welcome Noman and thanks for the good news.
Your chart link did not open for some reason
do you know how to used the media feature to post a chart ?
Or just delete the link and try again..should work
Under Edit media I see my chart but don’t know how to post it
I’m sorry Simon. I’m not a millennial and posting stuff is not my forte.
Hi Noman, it took me months, maybe years to post a chart!
But I finally got it.
I have found that I need to save one to my desk top first and load it from there.
Other than that, I just know how to turn the computer on! LOL!
Thank you Steins!
If you look very closely at the ratio in mid 2001 you will see a violent spike. We have just experienced a similar/fractal of that in early 2020. The XAU almost doubled after the 2001 spike in four months. Then it retraces almost all of the move… If your trading this in a leveraged ETF you will arrive right back at your buy price after the correction. After each 5-6 month correction we get several more doubles in the Xau. If your crazy enough to trade this in JNUG you need to get out after say the GDXJ rises 35% over its 200. Good luck to us all.

This is my fourth gold bull market. Every time I have tried to trade the highs I have had to chase and buy back at higher prices… In 2000 GG Goldcorp started at 1 5/8 and went to 56 eleven years later. There were always hundreds of very good reasons to get out. It is damn near impossible to stay in. I am guessing that this bull market will be the biggest. Each gold bull market everyone believes its the end of the world. The end of money. End of everything. People believed that in the 1870’s 1907, 1930’s, end of WWII where we had millions of unemployed, 2000, 2001 2008…. We are still here. I believe the world gets better every day, every year. So our money gets depreciated, so what? We are goldbugs!
Hi Noman! Love your comment.. it’s never the end of nothing! Humans love to deal in extremes. Side thought, 4th bull market? How did you arrive at that count?
Back in the late 70’s I lucked out and had a mentor who was in his 90’s and traded the 1929 top and subsequent bear market only to have his house, his brokerage firm go under and take all his money. He taught me about the unknown unknowns. The trap doors that we all fall into. Like the retail traders in USO right now… Anyway he got me interested in the gold run that ran into Jan 1980. I was a poor college student with little funds. I was in the run from Mar 79 through Nov 79. I never saw the $800 gold people talk about. That was number one. I missed the mid 90’s gold stock bump. The second was Nov 2001. The third was 2009. I hope this is my fourth. Love your charts. This is such a great forum and its free!
I forgot one. I traded the 2016 run but stayed in too long and gave up the gains.
I’m humbled to be surronded by such wisdom. I feel like I know nothing.
Hi Alex. did you try the link? I’m not very good at this.
Norman welcome.

Nice Chart Norman. I look forward to following more of your posts.
Thank you Bikoo! The only way I posted what I did was like a monkey hitting all the buttons and getting lucky.
Note the spike in the ratio in 2001 and 2020 are nearly identical in percentage.
Welcome Norman! Thank you for the chart. Come all you lurkers out there with a chart, something to say, or just a good vibe. Taking all comers, we tolerate Fully, we can muster YOU! 🙂
😉
New lurker comment! Norman, love the 50/200 crossover right at the right time and right place! We must have gone through the same school of hard knocks…I started my investing in 1981 and bought my first gold coin in 1983! But didn’t get serious till 1989, many a sad investing story in between!
JimBob I am guessing that most goldbugs have the same issues. We fall in love with our positions and don’t sell. My mentor taught me that the quicker you make money the faster you lose it. The slower you make money the longer you have it. When you need to make money you won’t. When you do not need to make money you will. I have to say that that seems to be true…
He guys…great thread…welcome Jimbob and Noman…btw everybody it is No Man ( Not Norman)
I made the same mistake.
PS Thanks to Aurum Maximus for helping me to remember to call in the New Guys.
Other than that he can be a PITA…but he’s our PITA 🙂
Yep. That is why I want a boring long term trend in gold. I do not want it to go parabolic.. caus that gonna mean the end.. or a serious period to consolidate the damage. 2001-20011 was beautfiful to watch… and the historic gold chart is a beauty in itself.. tells a wonderful story that brings people together. SHould be tagught ion economic or history classes in high school.
