   That’s a possibility! I was expecting the 1 year cycle to bottom this year around where we are at right now but it appears the 4-year and 9-year cycles have turned south. So expect lower lows ahead. We may get a smaller rally in the next two weeks and then fall to lower lows. Your 16XXX range could be that lower low and the final 9-year low. I’ve projected our old highs would become new support for the past 2 years. The question is will we find our 9-year low this summer and then rally onward from there? or will it take longer to play out? What if old support breaks, 1) I don’t want to even think about it and 2)I don’t think that’ll happen. It’ll be a buying opportunity. How will we ever rally out of the economic storm we are entering? FROM MA’s blog, a person writes in: My ears perked up last nite when over dinner my brother in-law claimed Trump said that he will move to restructure the national debt. Have events become dire-enough now that the time has arrived for you to offer your debt-equity swap proposition, and has Trump taken it into favorable consideration ? I hope so.

   …simply put debts will be restructured. what else might happen?? Things will have to get worse before they get better and before there’s political impetus to make big moves people will have to demand action on the (debt/banking) system.

   Dare I mention it? Since last year Charles Nenner has been calling for a DOW Industrial collapse to 5000. (based on cycle theory)
   You heard that right – a meltdown somewhere between 80% and 85%.
   1929 style.
   Won’t happen? Probably not, but I don’t really know.
   Can’t Happen? Never say never.

   Possible, but unlikely. Now that the Fed has again unleashed ZIRP and QE, and the Nasdaq has finally tested its 200 week moving average, stocks can start heading back up to new highs.

     I agree. And no matter what, all this deflationary pressure serves to do it strengthen the positions of the mega-caps stocks like AMZN, GOOGL, AAPL, MS. They can go on buying sprees after this and suck up even more capital, both financial and human.

     we’ll get a hope-ium banker-led reflation but it’ll be short lived (a few months?). we’ll find a final bottom at much lower prices.

   UUP down 3% today (although the damage done last week to the dollar bear case was substantial). Absolutely crazy currency volatility.
