Gold Hesitating

   Hi NorthStar

   I admire your conviction and fortitude

   BUT a retest of $1400 would destroy a lot of people here who are 100% in Gold Stocks

   This strategy will wrok for someone who allotted a certain amout of discretionary capital to the Gold market in say 2016

   That would give a cushion for such a drop.

   BUT many people are just wanting to come in to this market lately

   And this would be crushingly demoralizing .

   Not everybody has the ability to sustain such losses.

   Those people ( majority) would do better on the sidelines until a confirmed breakout.

   JMHO.

   “Confirmed breakout?” Confirmed by what? The important thing is if something is confirmed subsequently by reality — as determined long, long afterwards, perhaps many years afterwards. Having something confirmed by this or that Expert or Guru or sign is very nice. These things often work and sometimes they don’t. A sign could work somewhat reliably nearly all the time but may fail at a critical time. I don’t think “confirmed breakouts” are anything like 100%.

   People always need to be cautious. They need to think for themselves. They should use signs but not too too much. They should rely on Experts even less. (If they are relying on Experts they may be in trouble.)

   If they proceed in a fashion such that decisions “demoralize” they are in trouble. They need to recognize that it’s ugly out there and things happen. Even Mr Expert Handhold can’t ward off mishaps no matter how many precious Confirmed amulets are annotated and pointed to.

   The “sidelines” can be dangerous as well, whether it’s missed opportunities or failed institutions or investments that are supposed to be safe but aren’t.

   I may be expressing irritation that I did not sell enough PM stocks last Friday (I spent a fair amount of time working at it), but I believe I am correct.

     To be clear, when I did my selling on Friday it was not out of cleverness. I needed cash for probably upcoming expenses–that’s all. In fact, one of the PM stocks I sold has gone up this week, and while selling multiple PM positions (generally either losers or highly speculative ones) I added slightly to my AEM position. So I am not boasting.
