   as time passes, I have to wonder whether the Spock Rock project was just a pump and dump scam. I’d like to give him the benefit of the doubt, but considering the performance of many of his picks, the complete disaster that has been NXS and CSQ, its hard not to consider it as a possibility.

     Spock had and still has up to 30 Rocks

     Many he sold after great moves

     The portfolio is still tracking and it is net net still in the green

     Some like the ones you mentioned bombed …some held strong

     5% “risk” in each of his rocks was the recommendation.

     He started the service just as these things were going ballistic,

     Each of us had ample time to consider if we HOLD “forever” or sell when the sector broke down

     I chose to sell and made more on these rocks than at any other time in my gold trading career.

     Each of us is entitled to our own opinion…this is mine.

     I am getting back into Spock’s rocks here…..not 100% of the PF…just a little can go a long way

       Betting on these rocks is a complete gamble and pure luck – not sure why we would promote Th see rocks given what happened in the past .

     Gdxj. Gdx. Tech stocks after 2000. Lost 90 percent or more many of those have
     Come back and made much more

     Many of the rocks have the same story in place now as before.
     Some don’t for sure but some do and the disgust above makes me a bit more interested now in them

     Timing is important as fully said. Looking good now and I am nibbling at them
     I recall the tech stocks back then most swore them off never to own one again.
     Well I dont have to tell you what happened to them. AmaZon Apple many more

     There is definitely blood in the streets. And what does mark mobius do when blood is running ?

     I’m super exited at how hated these things are.

     Having been with Spock since the beginning of his site and recommendation, he continued to make it clear we all had to take responsibility for our decisions. As Fully said, he nailed it calling the bottom and with his picks, we all made a small fortune!

     I clearly remember Rambus and Fully calling the turn in the gold market and that a top had formed.
     But I especially remember Plunger not buying the bottom in the gold market to begin with in ’16.
     THAT never left my mind and gave me additional nagging about the top forming.

     I’ve repeated a few times here that I haven’t been a trader, I own the stocks I have as a hedge and it has been playing out.
     As others have posted, some of these Spock Rocks imploded, but we have seen it many times that they can come back with a vengeance!
     Some will be losers but as Spock has said, it only takes a couple of winners to make it all worth it.

   I believe that I have net gains on the Spock recommendations. I use it in my own way (including in some respects as a contrary indicator.) However I suspect that most of any existing subscribers do not have net gains.

   To state that the portfolio is “still in the green” is true in a sense but highly misleading. The statement evades one of the many problems with the subscription. Spock makes his purchases or sales of highly illiquid issues. Then he would announce what he would do. Subscribers would then follow him, pushing the share prices up. They would then get excited at the “break-out” — easy to accomplish with a few people chasing shares in an illiquid issue. Thus Spock would typically get a far better entry price than most subscribers.

   However this procedure on Spock’s part is more or less routine with subscription services. There are occasional subscription services where the proprietor does not front-run the readers, and Spock was perfectly honest about front-running his subscribers–unlike some who undoubtedly do not let subscribers know that they already have positions.

   In fact, Spock typically told subscribers not to chase prices and gave suggested entry prices–generally not as good as his by any means, but better than the ones that they often obtained as they fought against each other chasing prices up. Thus it is incorrect to call the penny stock Spock project “just a pump and dump scam”. It was not a simple P-D scam. Moreover, Spock provides witty and clever analyses one does not get elsewhere.

   Yet it was not so nice. Spock was presented here as a former stockbroker who knew his way about the industry. He in fact may have provided a fair amount of malarkey when he did not in fact know. He certainly did not know the US retail market and its rules and regs well. Those who assumed he had any minimal competence in matters such as certificates and DRS in the US were harmed by the assumption that he knew what he was doing in regard to much of anything US in these markets. Also, there was indeed lack of ethical, shall we say, purity. He did not publicize that he might be getting a cut of any private placements he was pushing, which private placements ended up being especially harmful for the most part — especially to US subscribers.

   He also did not (as psychotherapy types like to put it) “own” his mistakes. When the market turned down he did not for the most part suggest that people take profits. Some did. Some didn’t. There were horrifying stories of people facing divorce or terminal illness who were being wiped out. It was, to be sure, their responsibilities. Yet had he given 1/20th of the excited attention to the down-ish movements that he did to the moves higher, they might have not devastated themselves in a way that I am afraid they did. As a matter of fact, on the way up, he kicked out one of the nicest and most intelligent subscribers, in Stalinist purge-like fashion IMO, for too much questioning of the Party Line from above about the up move from the Great Leader.

   There was, under extreme pressure from complaint after complaint that he wasn’t writing about the devastating losses in the portfolio, a non-apology apology after he quit writing anything for a long time when things turned south. It was almost worse than nothing. Some thought that there might have been gestures like free 6 month subscriptions. Some self-honesty might have been better in my opinion. Some of his main damage was to himself. He could have been far better with a bit more owning up to things, including I think honesty to himself. My opinion. Pathetic. I always look down on someone who could have been much better who ends up betraying his own apparent potential in such an extreme fashion, as I believe is the case here.

   Thus I do not think it is or was Pump and Dump, certainly not of the usual sort. A lucky or intelligent subscriber could do well with his service. One can find many intelligent observations. On the other hand, it is highly disappointing in several respects.

   This is not a comprehensive review — just some observations jotted down. I note that I have not touched on the “global” aspect of his service.

     Fully you tell people Hecla and CDE “were dogs etc” but I would feel better buying them that some rubbish that’s a pump and dump-

       What happened in the past to HL and CDE was they lost 90% of their peak value and YOU and many others were too enamored with them to sell before the bottom…that’s what happened

       My Spock PF which I bought into in Feb 2016 rose 500% by August

       Then the PM ETFs which I used for a proxy started to top…It became obvious by Sept that the move was over so I sold at 375 % gains

       It changed my life

       I was in all the same “shit” you were in but you rode them into the ground…to be fair Spock also never sold

       He believed it was just a downturn…and was wrong…it was devastating.

       TAKE Responsibility !

       You believed it was going to be a great move so you bought….then you waited for someone to tell you to sell…and no one did.

       I posted tops at the time as did others but YOU decided to hold.

       Rambus saw the tops !

   I never subscribed to Spock nor have I bought a single one of these “rocks “ I buy my own stocks and sell on my own volition –
   2- I cashed out all my PMs shortly after 2011 and rebought in early 2016 – I’ve done well for a 37 year old 🙂
   3 – I haven’t used a free site to make a single trade – My motto If you can’t afford a subscription you shouldn’t trade a shilling:)
   4- sensor you ? No absolutely not – that’s not my MO that’s more your play with past people who have voiced ideas Contrary to you

   In the short time I have been here, this is the second time (actually third, as you have managed to slip in another insult in the end of your last comment) that you have polluted the ambiance.

   It is beyond rude to repeatedly attack/insult a moderator
   … and JUST PLAIN DUMB.

   This tune predates you by decades, but immediately came to mind:

   This, to me, really is not a place to complain about individuals that post or promote newsletters here. I’ve done it myself and always regretted it. Mainly, because sometimes certain individuals stop posting if they’re insulted when their information is valuable, insightful and frankly just interesting. We make our choices based on information, but in the end, we are responsible. I’d rather get some insight on this site as a balance to a lot of garbage that’s out there concerning this mostly wretched market we seem addicted to for some ungodly reason. If we succeed, I think some of it will have to do with the general vibe of this site and what it has to offer, as amorphous as that sounds. You won’t find a better group to hang out with on the internet, certainly not in a forum or groups devoted to picking stocks. Those are truly awful. I really believe, for the most part, people here are genuinely honest. That’s rare.

   I am interested that one can express agreement with me on Spock without having subscribed. Subscribing means having a sense from practical experience of Spock’s consistent pluses and minuses, both of which can be useful when speculating. The positives also include his particular wit and knowledge. There would also be the corresponding negatives.

   It may or may not be true that this or some other site is not a proper site for commenting on Spock or some other subscription service. It is unfortunate however that there was no site for frank commentary by those who knew the service. I myself believe I encountered flak when on the old Spock site I expressed — all too weakly — misgivings about the group enthusiasm on the way up. I also received more cutting criticism (“shill” for example) when here or there I attempted to temper in restrained fashion some of the negativity about Spock or his recommendations on the way down. The fact is that the problems of the site were compounded by the quality and extent of reaction of subscribers, owing in part to lack of venue for ongoing frank rational discourse about the basic features of the site.

     Interesting that we all experience the world the way we are, not the way it is.
     That’s why we can have diametrically opposite experiences.
     And as the Buddhists say, “The source of all our suffering is our own thinking.”

     I’ve kept my experience with Spock pretty simple by taking responsibility for my actions.
     No one made me subscribe and buy and no one kept me from selling.
     There was ample warning that gold was waning! If you bought low and sold higher, how much simpler could it be?

         To emphasize commentary above, ongoing frank discussion of the minuses and pluses of the service and elaborate more subtle qualitative aspects of it other than bad/good — and frank discussion of the way subscribers’ use or misuse of the service amplified various effects of the service. Such discussion 2016-2017 might have allowed the astute an easier time of making use of the service. The absence of such discussion in fact might have allowed Spock to avoid considering potentially useful, even necessary perspectives. But there was and is no good venue for such discussion. But that’s that.

   My thoughts – I did take out a Spock subscription, several years ago. I lost most of my investment because I bought the recommendations and held onto them (they all fell several percent in the first few weeks, and I kept holding, waiting for the day I could at least get my original investment back. That day never arrived, and as a result, I lost all of my original investment, which was several thousand pounds). I don’t really blame Spock. It was my fault for not realising where we were in terms of the overall PM market. We were heading towards that 2016 cyclical low. The ‘rocks’ may well explode to the upside, but you need the heat to be turned up first, and that won’t happen until we’ve passed the 15 year cycle low (which we now have). On top of that, you need to be aware of the technical chart for each individual stock you own. I learned my lesson, and started to apply the knowledge I have in my scientific career, because, as it turns out, it’s closely related. Since then, my portfolio has been performing very well, and I’ve recovered my losses. I tried to time the bottom, and ended up going ‘all in’ when the HUI was around 130-140. Convinced 2016 was the bottom, I’ve held all of my positions since.
   No matter what subscription or service you might pay for, you do have to take ultimate responsibility for your investment decisions. There is no easy way of predicting the future unfortunately. So far, I’m following a big picture roadmap, which has worked for the last 4 years. The moment something happens to take us away from my expected course, I’ll act accordingly (and probably post quite a few charts to let everyone else know). I hope those who lost out in the past have been able to benefit from the 100% + move that we’ve seen in the PM stock indices so far, I believe another 100% move is possible in the near future.      Hear, hear! And it is also soo much more gratifying to have failed… worked hard… and overcome! That is what life is all about, small victories… over and over, culminating is an interesting story for your grand children (or fellow readers)! And also that is what made Rocky 2 my favorite!
