   I was thinking similarly earlier today. Decades ago I had systems whereby I would take data and examine strength of statistically significant moves up or down from highs or lows. I would try to figure out what prevailed. I don’t have time now and just eyeball. Clearly there are long-term trends upwards from multiple points well in the past. There is a pretty clear down trend in gold and silver from early September. Which prevails now? I’d guess for the very short term probably the down, but I have no idea for how long and what are the chances it will last or how low it goes. So being neutral makes plenty of sense.

   How you handle the situation depends on your tastes, how often you want to check the markets, your risk tolerance, your need for cash, taxes, all these things. Being flat and in cash waiting makes perfect sense if you are want. I was just thinking that. (In my case I have been selling like crazy for the past month partly for tax reasons partly for chart reasons, while buying daintily, still holding most of my stuff–but am poised to buy or sell more, expecting probably to keep selling then buy.)

   Do the arrows indicate buy and sell points that you determined in real time? If so, would you mind revealing your methodology?

     Yes it’s real time, but with weekly time frame, the bar changes once a week, and real time is pointless..

     On a weekly time frame analysis, shows indecision. That does not mean on daily it’s not. But I use this to give me the general trend.. if weekly says up, I should exit on daily rather than short, even though a short signal may come up on daily from time to time..

     Solid means entry, empty triangle, means exit.
     Sometimes, they are both together, so it shows exit long and new short (switch direction)..

     I use technical analysis indicators with predictive analysis.. work in progress..

   Agree…very difficult to have any conviction here.

   Some PM Stocks look ready to break out of patterns UP and others have broken diwn from clear H and S patterns and are retesting and falling away
