Latest Consolidation Nearing A Breakout ?

   Where in the world would an advance in Ag come from in a world of deflation?

   This is a teasing, rhetorical question, not necessarily for you, Northstar.

   I think the distinction betw/ inflationary and deflationary environments is oversimplified. However to the extent I accept it for making discussion simple, for some time I’ve harbored suspicions that the threatened “deflation” may be a setup for massive generally unexpected increases in some prices, and not just Ag. Cu, for example. Just this week I saw this argument elsewhere, along with the hint (no disagreement from me though I can’t know) that “deflation”-fed speculators possibly are being deliberately set up–for instance for a jump in Cu prices and certain other commodity prices that may shock even people somewhat prepared for a rise in Ag prices. I do not and cannot know, of course.

   Good question Karl. Silver has a bit of a split personality of course – part industrial metal, part monetary. The monetary part kicks in during gold bull markets if/when the fervour spills over into the silver market. Coins and bars are of course, much cheaper than gold, and an easy way into the PM investment scene. I think the Gold/Silver ratio is pretty well known now, so once that support level fails, as it certainly will do, one fine day, then silver will fly. As for inflation/deflation and things like copper, I’m just following the charts for now. My latest thoughts on copper are in a post above this one.
