Not especially. Very average since gold bottomed in 2016. If you use gold to measure how quickly FIAT money is disappearing down the sewer, the Canadian Dollar, Swiss Franc, Euro and Japanese Yen are doing better. US Dollar a safe haven ? I don’t think so – the statistics just don’t support it.
Good point on what’s happened so far but that’s with the dollar going sideways.
I’ll be interested to see the same data when the dollar starts going up and fast… as the real crisis begins.
You may be right Sir. I’m keeping an open mind on the fate of the Dollar.
To understand what I think might happen:
Let’s say the dollar doubles overnight and the euro and yen go down by half.
What happens to the price of gold in these currencies?
Gold in:
USD: $750
Euro: $2684
Yen: $319,448
In the dollar gold goes down by 1/2 and gold doubles in the euro and yen in this scenario.
I do think the dollar will almost double or atleast go up about 70%. Will this happen overnight? Absolutely not. But people in other currencies will benefit much more than the United States in gold’s next rise…
I follow your thinking. I’ll be convinced if DXY breaks past 108 convincingly.
