Spock and Plunger?
I’m having some second thoughts about telling a poster here, that criticized my updates of Spock and Plunger, that I wouldn’t anymore.
Thanks Fully for the support!!!!
First, I really tried to get Northstar to not leave when he was criticized. I even felt it was a bit weak to leave. Though having gotten some of that it is hurtful and does piss me off.
My intent all along in periodically updating my PF of Spock and Plunger is to see what kind of movement both of them are getting in they’re picks. They are both contributors here and while Spock may have been a couple years early, I have stuck with him.
As I have said in the past, I’m not a trader or investor, I’ve been hedging for a pullback in the economy.
And what I’ve seen is that some rocks that are way down can recover very quickly with a 10, 20 or even 50% move.
I just haven’t sweated it much.
So I don’t know what I’ll do going forward, but to be accused of something I’m not doing or anyone here being criticized is not productive.
I have absolutely no interest in promoting Spock or Plunger.
I take responsibility for my decisions and don’t blame others for them.
And I live by one of many rules……When You Fight Reality, You Only Lose 100% of The Time!
Personally I hope Northstar comes back. I think I may have been involved tangentially for his leaving which I regret. When Pedro mentioned he thought NS was talking his book, and NS didn’t know what that was, I tried to explain. I used the word “accused” and I should have said “suggested”. I’m sure Pedro wasn’t trying to be malicious.
As for you Steins, please keep posting whatever you feel is relevant and try to shrug off the naysayers as best you can. I enjoy reading all perspectives on this thread.
P.S. Please tell NS we miss him if you are in personal contact.
Thanks Jim,
I tried with NS more than once, no luck.
Since I basically have my own mutual fund, so damn many rocks, I figured it was a pretty good indicator, one more view.
I’ve held Spock’s for two years and all of Plungers since his recommendations at the very beginning.
I get to see some good action having so many. As I said, Plungers were all green and several of Spock’s ended up killing it today!
Maybe I’m wrong, but I think Spock has had a good plan all along……Time will tell.
I have a problem with people leaving, especially when their advice is good. It’s happened a few times, and it’s not good for anybody. I make it a point to not bother someone to the point where they leave. It’s a loss not worth the criticism given. Ask a question, ask advice, sure, but why put anyone down. Pathetic. Northstar was a great asset. So far he’s been proven right on his calls. Now he’s gone.
Steins1, I haven’t come here much since Northstar left. I missed where you were criticized.
Personally, I have found your comments interesting.
I am not at all sure I agree with all of Northstar’s methodology. I am not sure that he is correct, nor do I think he asserted that he will necessarily be proven to be correct. He generally seemed to present his ideas as possibilities, as hypotheses. Even if the results are as he predicted, his reasoning may be wrong (right for the wrong reasons).
However he had been the star attraction for me here. Lots of stimulating ideas presented in a way that I could grasp quickly. He had to have put a lot of work into each of his charts, even though he was obviously practiced at creating them. I considered them a gift, a gracious one. People pay high subscription fees for work of far lower quality in my opinion–less original, less well thought out, far less carefully presented, much less stimulating (though not necessarily worthless)
There’s no problem criticizing his ideas, depending on the manner. However if I had been in his position I would have left, and earlier than he; also probably rather less politely, though I can enjoy being touchy. If I were to have gone to the effort to have offered up so many gems — whether correct or not — in his position I think I could have reasonably expected consistent gratitude or respect.
My opinion.
