US Dollar and Gold
There were two periods of really Hot and Really Cold moves in the Dollar that no one talks about
1982 to 1988 was a doozy both up and down….and Gold basically was range bound and very unexciting thru it all
1995 to 2005 was similar.

That spike in 83 IMO Gold was as expensive as in 80 highs considering the value of the $US and price of gold in $US. Europe was in a Fiat crisis Louvre Accord & Plaza accord to fix the Louvre accord lol. Anybody who thinks the CB’s don’t cover each other is in denial. Look at Newmont charts for the same timeframe.

One thing it shows is that its not as simple as dollar up, gold down. It helps gold to move up if the dollar isn’t surging though. Interestingly the most recent dollar rally up in 2014 didn’t send gold plunging. It simply coincided with a large multi-year basing pattern.

One could also say, what is a dollar (which is exchangeable for another identical dollar)? Certainly not what the USA Constitution says it is but what do you expect from people who really should know better calling our Constitutional Republic a “democracy”? If you repeat a lie often enough……
