Unfortunately, the same can be said for the dollar and the general markets, but if we care about cycles … the dollar becomes a non-player soon and the general markets already entered a bear market (per Dow Theory).

Do the general markets appear normal at the moment? Lots of discussion regarding PM Miner Equities on this board and many have made healthy returns as of late. Myself included on a few and held some dogs along the way also (more dogs than i would like to mention). The wall of worry IMO are some of the volumes. I’ve been (1-3 days) trading NG CL HG MTH Au & Potash Miners & Producers. Solid companies with profits and healthy dividends and the volumes are ghostly…..like down 50% in some cases? I will never forget 2008 and often look back at the performance of Commodities and Equities of said aforementioned during such events.

My question to you and other Goltenter’s is what is the future of the General Market in the near future? The GFC created many opportunities for those positioned accordingly…..In your opinion are future opportunities or different opportunities going to be present themselves in the near future. The DXY and $Gold faired very differently than the most would have anticipated during such an event. I guess it comes down individual interpretations of where markets are and where they are about to go?
I mention this as to your reference to the DOW Theory….Are you suggesting $Gold is at one point on your chart and the DOW is situated at another? Wondering what your thoughts are AFA could you elaborate or have I misread your post?

Sir red label … all good questions … many of which I don’t have answers for … but after considering multiple viewpoints from different writers, technicians using different tools, smart money, etc. it seems clear multiple markets are at important crossroads currently. Of course if the Dow Theory has been triggered, as some analysts conclude, then a bear market is upon us in general equities (although, not to say many select general equities can’t still fair well). If this is true then alternative investments should benefit, some of which are gold, silver, agriculture, food, etc. As we know, bear/bull markets are confusing, so I think more evidence will be needed in the weeks/months ahead to confirm some of the ideas on this site. I for one am a long-term investor and would like to catch the next bull(s) leaving the gate(s). I currently will not put a dollar in the general markets, as I see them being overstretched by the powers in charge (regardless of what those like Warren Buffett say). I think we will know much more this year if a transition in assets from mainstream to less than mainstream is occurring.

Great chart Afa, well spotted. It’s been a long time indeed, and is just another piece in a huge puzzle which is gradually building up the picture. It’s like watching something approaching in the mist – those who look hardest, with the best eyes, will see it first. Those looking the other way will get squashed. The image becomes abundantly clear if, and only if, we power through $1350-$1400 Gold.
