Snip:

But first let’s review the past 6 months and the headlines of the weekend posts I have submitted. Nobody can call all of the twists and turns of a market, but I must say we have done a job of understanding what was coming next and presenting it to you, no holds barred, no spin, holding back nothing. Let’s look at how these reports have played out on a chart:

As Rambus was alluding to Friday night it’s time to formulate your strategy.

We successfully identified the bottom and established our positions, that was a great accomplishment, but now it’s time to formulate a strategy to make the big money. You must now make a personal decision of how you are going to manage your portfolio in a bull market. Are you going to trade the rallies or just buy and hold. How are you going to structure the makeup of your holdings? Mostly seniors, or a mix of everything? The permutations are infinite, but you need to decide for yourself. I plan to maintain a fully invested position, possibly using margin in the early stages of rallies. Once rallies become extended I plan on selling off all margin and to even trade out of positions while holding my core through pull backs. It will require a traders mentality, but holding a core will prevent me from being caught on the sidelines with the train leaving the station. As the bull market progresses some profits will be siphoned off into permanent income producing holdings such as pipeline stocks and real estate REITs. Also junior miners will eventually come into their own once the bull market becomes pronounced and publicly recognized. I would like to state a strong caveat to the above commentary, and that is that realistically 80% of investors in this sector will probably be better off just buying a sector ETF such as SGDM or a mutual fund such as TGLDX and wait until the bull market’s Phase III fully expresses itself then sell everything. Not only will you not find yourself on the sidelines when the market zooms up, but you will be able to go to the beach and forget about it. I recommend you take a hard look at yourself and chose your strategy wisely.
