   Is this not contrary to what Plunger’s recent piece suggested? Maybe I’m reading them both wrong (Translation – I’m stupid.) but this seems optimistic and Plunger seemed quite concerned. Please enlighten me, dear wise ones of the Golden Tent!

     OK here is my interpretation. This is an issue of market duration only. The principle is one needs to apply the same duration to ones trades as to ones outlook. The charts Rambus is posting here are very long term. I totally agree with his analysis, however my outlook is more short to intermediate term. I see great opportunity over the next 3 months to play the short side. That hardly even registers on Rambus’ long term charts. But that does not preclude making big coin over the next three months by taking a less than long term perspective.

     This has been a great trading year, just from three principle trades I have made. Short Oil, short PM stocks (earlier in the year not now) and short IBM. If you come over to the Rambus site I will introduce the next short trade. The key is once you get positioned into a winning set-up one must increase scale. For instance there have been times I have held 100 put options of IBM. That is the equivalent of controlling 10,000 shares (around 1.4 mil) That has been done with less than 100k, yet the returns have been outstanding. Certainly there is risk, but that’s the game and the unique proposition we have using the skill set of chartology. It is absolutely amazing to me how clear this set-up has been, yet few have seen it. Why don’t institutions pension funds or hedge funds see this? I will tell you why as I have experienced an up close and personal example. I approached a major S&P 500 corporation with an institutional grade study of how they could manage a fuel hedging strategy using chartology. In this specific case they lost $4.5 billion USD in their hedging program. I explained to them how the unique skill set they were missing was technical analysis. If they had used it they could have recognized the error of their ways and prevented their loss. The result was they didn’t even want to hear it

     The take away is this is our unique skill that few seem to see the value in. Use it to your advantage…

   That is a fascinating chart. Aside from Rambus’ excellent work, I think it’s incredible that 60min, 2hr, daily, weekly, and even monthly patterns have validity in their own time frame.
   It’s amazing how much a chart will tell us, even if it’s in retrospect some times. 😉
