I want Graddhy to be correct on his bullish Commodities call. I am a Commodities Watcher. I could care less about Stocks and Bonds ( financial instruments) Give me the Basics of Life any day . COMMODITIES.

There are only 2 Indices we may really need to follow the Commodities .

Thompson Reuters has 2 Main Commodity Indices…the CCI ( is the original CRB) . here is the info and its components. looks like a more balanced Index than the newer one that is simply called the CRB.

CCI https://www.thebalance.com/understanding-the-continuous-commodity-index-809385

The Thomson Reuters Equal Weight Commodity Index is recognized as a major barometer of commodity prices. The index comprises 17 commodity futures that are continuously rebalanced: Cocoa, Coffee ‘C’, Copper, Corn, Cotton, Crude Oil, Gold, Heating Oil, Live Cattle, Live Hogs, Natural Gas, Orange juice, Platinum, Silver, Soybeans, Sugar No. 11, and Wheat.

Anybody got the Stockcharts Symbol for the CCI ?

Closest I can find is this GCC

Daily

Ambiguous …there are 2 possible bottom lines…Is this a Backtest ( dotted line) or a Failed Breakdown ?

I know what Graddhy says 🙂

Weekly

CRB Commodity Index is Energy and Agricultural Weighted…

Thomson Reuters/CoreCommodity CRB Index is calculated using arithmetic average of commodity futures prices with monthly rebalancing. The index consists of 19 commodities: Aluminum, Cocoa, Coffee, Copper, Corn, Cotton, Crude Oil, Gold, Heating Oil, Lean Hogs, Live Cattle, Natural Gas, Nickel, Orange Juice, RBOB Gasoline, Silver, Soybeans, Sugar and Wheat. Those commodities are sorted into 4 groups, with different weightings: Energy: 39%, Agriculture: 41%, Precious Metals: 7%, Base/Industrial Metals: 13%. This page includes a chart with historical data for CRB Commodity Index. CRB Commodity Index – actual data, historical chart and calendar of releases – was last updated on May of 2017.

Unambiguous breakdown here .

So in summary the jury is out.

The Narrow weighted ( Oil heavy) $CRB looks very bearish to me

The Broad Weighted CCI (represented by the GCC) is still in a rectangle consolidation

Based on these 2 Indices…the jury is out and Caution is a good idea.

The CRB has a LONG history so here is the Monthly….shows what a whack Commodities took. Did they breakdown and now backtesting before going back to 1967 prices ? OR was this an epic fakeout ?

I have to agree with Graddhy regarding the cycles here…it is not precise but looks like a good fit

But one thing is for sure …Nothing !

Patience is a commodity too.ay
