HUI:GOLD
We seem to have forgotten about this Important ratio
In January this year it had reached obscenely Low levels
The Parabolic decline was broken and it zoomed up.
But only to the point of the 2008 Low
However with Gold getting crushed lately this ratio is holding up rather well
I was over due for a bullish post eh ?
Yes!
Bullish and correct!
Must be Xmas time?
I bet there is a bullish 4 point flag building out here. If so this is going to take some time and there will be a rally followed by a demoralizing drop again.
Merry Christmas Sir Norvast . How is Christmas celebrated when its 40 Celsius ?
🙂
Early morning rise too beat the heat, 25 km bike ride (push bike), followed by Xmas lunch and lots of Sparkling Shiraz!
It is going to be 40+ where I am spending Xmas but off to New Zealand (South Island) in Jan to check out their fantastic Pinot Noir’s
Any New Zealanders who read this forum I would be happy to take some recommendations on wineries I should visit in the Nelson, Christchurch and Queenstown regions.
Hi norvast,
Thanks for so many insightful posts over the year.
The grunty shiraz’s from Barossa, Coonawarra and McLaren Vale are my preference, and I don’t look much further. A white rarely passes my lips so can’t offer a recco on the Marlborough wineries. However Roaring Meg pinot noir from Mt Difficulty Wines in Cromwell area is definitely a winner if I’m looking to curry favor with my wife.

I live in the NI so am off your circuit, but if you need any help/advice on your travels I do have friends down there. Contact me through Fully if you want.
Very best wishes for your holiday.
Eh, Canuck, you were. 🙂
Thank you illusion.
I had Mt Difficulty on my list.
Visited NI last trip to NZ and had a brilliant time.
Flew in to Auckland traveled down the east coast and flew out of Wellington.
Hawkes Bay, Lake Taupo, Napier, Hamilton, Martinborough etc
I highly recommend NZ as a place to visit. Lots of interesting places to see, fantastic people. Not bad at rugby!
To you and and your wife all the best and have a great Xmas.
PS Gold has probably one more low to make , maybe a “double bottom” on 29 Dec
Norvast : You area sociable Hermit I see
🙂
I used to do all sorts of data analyses years ago and may return to them. Now I just eyeball charts, but I do it a lot and have some confidence in my experience.
1) Lines and patterns notwithstanding, I just don’t see this as “bullish”. When my eyes sweep from left to right they sweep in a curve up and then down, overall. There is a skewed inverted U until proven otherwise.
2) A single time frame alone can be misleading. What about others? A shorter time frame, from the peak of earlier this year, shows a move unambiguously down. Also not “bullish.” However I’m not sure what a very long term chart of the XAU (HUI would not be available) vs GOLD would show.
3) How well validated is it that this ratio is meaningful? I assume that it is, but maybe wrongly so.
(These comments go counter to my own behavior, which is to hold on to my bet on tiny PM stocks, though I have been sorting through them, replacing ones I don’t like so well with ones I like better.)
PS I thought Aussies and Newzies dont get along
New Zealand is First on my Bucket List !!
