New technology was embraced only if it advanced the ability to do more for less, ease of use or other major changes to the status quo or it never took off. It was only a novelty.

Most EV’s, Solar installations, wind farms would never have gotten off the ground if they were not heavily subsidized. The public has discovered this finally.

I remember when one could buy a bank of Tesla batteries for your home and charge them with your solar panels. You could then sell energy back to the grid at a good price. It was all subsidized in the installation phase. All well and good but then the premium was reduced on the sales back to the grid. It still did not break even. It was still a backup incase you lost power but a Propane, Nat Gas or Diesel backup Generator sized to your bare-ass minimum usage was less expensive and was reliable if you maintained it. Solar installations lose efficiency over time and need to be replaced. 10-15 years???? They are likely better than the panels installed twenty-five years ago.

It’s all coming unravelled.
