EV’s
I’m seeing more EVs on the streets of Vancouver as I cycle around. Mostly Teslas.
Could be as many as 10% of the cars. Possibly 5% of all vehicles on the road. Seeing the first of the EV Delivery trucks as well.
More public charging stations. They even expanded the number of underground parking stalls with EV chargers in our Vancouver building. The Big push is on.
I don’t see many accidents on the streets. All the advanced accident avoidance technology really helps. It’s prevented a few collisions for me when driving.
The EV’s have different protocols for repairs and the costs escalate quickly, so I am told. I read how a damaged battery is an accident ready to happen. Fires, etc. Haven’t seen any yet but as I mentioned I just don’t see any collisions.
I’m not an expert of EVs, they wouldn’t fit into my lifestyle at this time and for 6 months of cold weather driving they would get reduced range. I’m not a candidate for purchasing one.
Here is an interesting read on the state of EVs in California. I’m assuming the stats are correct.

Sir Columbia,
If you ever ventured to the Bay Area suburb that I reside in, you’d be shocked to see that 55-60% of the residents have a Tesla! Some have two Teslas! Some have 3 EVs, the third being a Hyundai IONIC or a Chevy Bolt.
Just imagine the strain on the power grid!
To add to the mix we just had two consecutive days of 39-41 Celsius weather (103 F – 107 F)
What else can I ask for?

Those things are getting written off after minor accidents because of replacement battery costs. I’m sure ICBC is as woke as the socialist government it owes for its existence, and so buries the truth . Insurance rates in B.C. will rise commensurate with the costs of repairing or replacing this horse and buggy technology. That’s right, we had electric cars a hundred years ago with a 500 mile range and a lead battery. ICE has been superior the whole time.
Strider ICBC rates have stabilized for some. Discounts add up. Anti-theft, accident avoidance tech, driving under 10,000 kms per year per vehicle, a lifetime years of driving w/o any claims, etc.
Younger drivers with accident history are being soaked but isn’t that the way it should be??
I don’t know how EV rates have fared the past decade.
GEICO left California in Aug 2022.
What a great company!
Now, because of the EVs repair costs killing insurance companies, let’s see who leaves CA entirely. The remaining ones are apologizing to their customers and increasing the rates.
The Tesla drivers are so scared of their own insurance rates, that if they’re in an at-fault accident, they just run away … a.k.a. hit-and-run

Meanwhile a portion of the tax on petroleum products goes toward highway and road infrastructure and maintenance.
Are drivers of electric vehicles going to pay their fair share of road costs. If so, how will the tax be applied?
Will it be reflected in the cost of electricity, by distance travelled, by the some other as yet undetermined method,
or are EV drivers to will get a “free” ride?
Maybe they plan to first squeeze dry the ICE drivers.
Aren’t the EV drivers greater mortals who “care for the planet”? Why should they be taxed?
Us gasoline using lesser mortals will foot all the bills.

I have no need for a f***ing EV.
Show these smug little pukeheads where the Cobalt comes from
Relax, gang. This whole EV thing is in the early stages of collapse. Ask Ford, which is hemorrhaging billions and has begun cutting prices. Ask the car dealers who are carrying close to 120 day supplies of these losers compared to the norm of 60 days. Those who can afford have bought, or that source is close to exhaustion. The rest of the folks cannot afford these monstrosities. Heck, they are having a hard time affording the ICE cars these days…
Auto industry in early stages of implosions. Puts = big $$ makers.
Bingo!
