So what? I have to call BS on the implication that because credit card sales are above “normal” the economy is strong, running hot and the FED has to tighten even more. Total nonsense. First people use crdit cards more than ever before, not because they are loaded up with money and dying to spend but because they are either desperate and need to, or more likely, because all these card companies give rebates and benefits for using your cards for everything. Any comparisons to past usage is distorted by these reward programs. Also, because rates ran up so much in such a short period of time(thanks to FED tightening) the card companies are offering zero balance transfers that often include for new purchases for a 6 or 12 month period. Another incentive to put everything on plastic that maybe wasn’t there a year ago.
