Hi Gary,

Thought you might be interested in knowing about a little incident I experienced today, one that might have made international headlines had I not held back.

I’m still wandering around on the motorcycle, way up in the northernmost part of Vietnam. The mountainous terrain is stunning. Being so close to the border with Chy-na, I took a tiny little road that eventually went right along the border in places. The border fence is quite amazing, in that it runs right along the crest of some difficult mountains.

Near a gate in the fence, I shut down the motorcycle and walked right up to the gate to check it out. That’s when I heard a repeating message being played on the Chinese side. I have no idea what it said, but later found that it was being played at every point thereafter where I stopped along the fence, so I’m guessing it’s being played along the entire border fence.

Also, along the fence on the Chy-na side, spaced every 100′ or so were surveillance cameras:

Curious, I climbed up on the base of a little monument on the Vietnam side of the fence to get a closer look at the cameras, then heard a bunch of yelling. At this point, I was pretty much looking down at the fence and on a little military outpost on the other side.

That’s where the yelling was coming from and I soon realized it was directed at me! A soldier came out, visibly upset and shouting something unintelligible to me, so I photographed him

Predictably, that caused him to become even more upset. Another soldier was right behind him, also yelling, both of them waving their arms furiously in a way that indicated they weren’t happy about me or the camera. When I pointed the camera in their direction again, they ran for cover and hid, but kept yelling. Since they weren’t pointing rifles in my direction, I yelled back that they only controlled things on their side of the fence, that they should mind their own business. The I took another photo to demonstrate what seemed to me to be a simple fact. They went nuts.

For a moment, I considered mooning them just for fun, but thought better of it. I’d heard Chy-na had done anal schwabs and didn’t know if they had the ability to administer a schwab by drone. So, without mooning, I moved on. It’s bad enough that I’m now in the Chy-na database and already have a really negative social credit score there, even without them having recorded images of my nekid ass!

Anyway, it was another very fun day. I’m happy for being on the right side of the fence.

Bill

NOW THATS A SOUTHERN BORDER

But it’s obvious they are keeping the Chinese in rather than keeping the Riff raff out
