Too Far Too Fast ?

   The world is so unstable that a massive run-up in Au prices could happen any time and it could stay up there. I think it would be crazy not to have significant holdings in good PM stuff if one is not living hand-to-mouth. Also, the overall long-long-long term trend in gold looks to me to be more up than down.

   However I employ a pretty simple tool. It can wrong, but it is good enough often enough. If I see lots of stocks near or over the top of the Bollinger Bands, I think Too High Too Fast. I also try not to buy individual stocks up there. I think other people’s simple method of distance from 50d and 200d MA is just great too as a similarly useful if fallible tool. I do eyeball distance from moving averages also, but just seeing things at or above a Bollinger Band is easy for the lazy.

   Probably many of you also use Bollinger Bands to think “too high too fast” to time sales for household expenses and things like that.
