The federal government has become so big and so expensive that even experts have trouble navigating the morass of contracts, awards, grants, loans, and other items that have transformed the U.S. spreadsheet into a labyrinth pitted with dead ends and rabbit holes.

Impervious to reform is the track Speaker Johnson seems to be taking. MAGA people won’t be impressed, but they’re a little blinded by the light at the moment.

I agree with everything you wrote. I was knocked over by DOGE, and figured those findings would immediately alter budget planning, but apparently The Speaker feels they should be ignored.
