Gold
“Gold is absolute objectivity. It is blind, like justice. It has no politics and ideology, no likes or dislikes, no friends or enemies. All it recognizes is its possessor, whom it serves faithfully as long as he has it. Indeed there can be no criterion, no other standard than gold. Yes, gold which never changes, which can be shaped into ingots, bars, coins, which has no nationality and which is eternally and universally accepted as the unalterable fiduciary value par excellence.”
Great quote. You may be surprised who it was that said it. Charles de Gaulle
Oh, I thought it was the Sermon in the mount Pt. Deux.
Charles DeGaulle …ha…Isnt he the guy responsible for the end of the Gold Standard ?
I believe that was Richard Nixon in 1972
Yes but Degaule instigated the Need for Nixon to close the Gold “window” becuase he asked for France to be paid in US Gold instead of payment in Dollars
Technically the Dollar was backed by Gold and any Country with a trade surplus with the US could be paid in Gold
Thats when the US “Defaulted” at Gold $42 and the rest is history
Well done FGC, you know your gold history. I urge all to reread the quote and focus on each way he describes it. It was a brilliant description.
