Jimmy has passed
He lived long enough to enjoy voting for the Kamala . Her loss must have been hard on him .
“He said he didn’t care about that. It’s just a birthday. He said he cared about voting for Kamala Harris.” James Earl “Chip” Carter III said in an interview to The Washington Post.
Jimmy Carter… probably one of the most naive things I ever did was to vote for him. I was a cadet at the USAFA at the time and EVERYONE was voting for Ford. But looking back at it all it was probably better to vote for him since that set up Ronald Reagan to win 4 years later.
BTW Ford was a total deep state hack and he was so dumb that he likely never even knew it. You know Ford was the guy who cemented the single bullet theory into the Warren Commission report. His reward for all of that was to be the Presidential stooge
Carter was actually a good, moral, decent person. Just an idealistic, terrible President.
This is what attracted me to him.. but ended up being a loser
I was young back then all that I remember was the failed rescue mission in the desert,
We’d had LBJ, then Nixon, then Ford …. so yeah, he struck me as a potential improvement.
But as it turned out, he had no savvy, no tactical skills, thought top down administration could steer the ship … and was soon totally adrift, tossed all about by the sea.
Reagan stepped in, but was basically ambushed by a horrible cabinet. He had much to say, but those around him didn’t listen.
The USA has basically been run into the ground since JFK (who offered hope and promise but didn’t deliver much).
Life long politicians are most just skimming operators. But when can an Everyman ever take time off from a real world career and put the funds together to win office and set that career aside for a few years? You probably need someone with a large family business that can turn it over to Junior for a few years.
Looking back, it’s a little depressing, isn’t it? One of the major problems is that every President, except the America hating Obama – believes in the absolute propaganda of the American experience, and so approaches the job with an ‘American exceptionalist’ set of rose coloured glasses. They don’t have an objective understanding of history. Trump is the latest, and potentially, the most foolish.
