EU officials have characterized the incident as part of Russia’s hybrid warfare against NATO, with a European Commission statement describing the cable severing as “the latest in a series of suspected attacks on critical infrastructure.”
Fascinating — the EU story is Finland protecting it’s cables but the internet is alive with “Finland is trying to get Russia to attack it so article 5 can be initiated” before the inauguration. I guess the theory is that hijacking an oil tanker will force Russia’s hand…….could be an interesting 24 days!!
