The majority of nations on the planet today have strict immigration rules, yet, America and the EU are the only regions attacked for wanting to limit the flow of illegals.

The main one being for profit. Follow the money.
They pulled out of Afghanistan for the same reason. The opium trade profits were collapsing, due to preference and popularity of fentanyl.
Illegal immigration is good business, especially the women and children. And the men can be future mercenaries to enforce marshal law. The profits are huge.
