USA – Troops who refuse vaccine must be given honorable discharge and access to veterans’ benefits as per new $768B defense bill
- The Senate overwhelmingly passed the National Defense Authorization Act on Wednesday
- It contains a provision that bars the Pentagon from giving servicemembers who won’t be vaccinated dishonorable discharges
- That means those servicemembers will also be eligible for veterans’ benefits
- Sen. Roger Marshall, a Kansas Republican and former Army doctor, sponsored the amendment
- Marshall said it ‘ensure[s] servicemembers will be protected from a dishonorable discharge for choosing not to get the COVID vaccine’
“The Senate overwhelmingly passed the National Defense Authorization Act on Wednesday, which contains a provision that bars the Pentagon from giving servicemembers who won’t be vaccinated dishonorable discharges.
That means those servicemembers will also be eligible for veterans’ benefits. “
Link is unreadable K2
Link is still working when I try it.
Would someone else comment on whether they can get link to work so we can figure out where the problem is – please & thx.
This is important because if Biden signs it because he wants everything else in the bill it will put pressure on the generals to fight any mandate. If service members are able to leave with their pensions etc. in tact they will have leverage and the pentagon will have to fight any mandate because they would loose too many troops.
Has the House passed this bill?
This is the nail in the coffin for us US military’s machine. They will have to significantly lower entry standards to get people in the door, which results in a weak military.
Its all baked in the cake now. A corrupt administration. Career generals with no ethics. And a woke force.
What could possibly go wrong?
Just because a military member doesn’t get a “Dishonorable” discharge doesn’t mean they can still get all their benefits. There are other types of discharge than just “Honorable” and “Dishonorable.” There is “General” and “Bad Conduct” among others. These do not include all the benefits of an “Honorable” discharge. They will still stick it to the service members they discharge. Finding a good job after receiving a “Less than Honorable” will be quite difficult for them.
