The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) has indicated that all health care providers, including ambulatory surgical centers, nursing homes, hospitals and other agencies that receive CMS funding require that their staffs be vaccinated against COVID-19.

While a final dictum will be issued sometime in October, for now CMS is urging Medicare-certified health care agencies to notify the employees of the upcoming mandate and get them started in the vaccination process.

CMS made the announcement in tandem with President Biden’s orders September 9, 2021, that all businesses with 100 or more employees mandate vaccines as a condition of employment. The president included what he said was a total of 17 million health care workers in his vaccine plan.
