Unfortunately I am not so sure how many realize how much of what they encounter is lying. Even if it is wrong they may be more inclined than I (and may I presume to put you in the category too?) to assume it is incidental or coincidental mistake of the oopsie sort.
I need to get back to work and can’t write down but a tiny part of my list, but those in charge are remarkably adept at many things. One of many is that they have re-written history less by crude leninist-stalinist methods and more by Hollywood. They Romanticize and sentimentalize history. Then they do a re-write of the movie when the former one is not PC. etc. You can be taught didactically but you have the image from the screen.
Another — and this is one of the various things that makes the supposedly intelligent upper middle classes, the professionals to be especially stupid in some ways. The “well-educated” are trained to whatever you want to call it separate this from that and not put it all together. There are psych terms and other terms for it. Orwell had his 1984 term. It is that you can get a lawyer or doctor or highly educated (indoctrinated) civil servant to admit, oh yes, the government did lie about that and there were lots of deliberate deaths, oh yes there was that horrible thing, this huge company and those control it have repeatedly done this horrible thing and lied about it and gotten off with little punishment, that one too, etc etc. But it all gets pigeon-holed–nothing gets put together. Each bad occurrence is left on its own, ignored as much as possible, as some sort of coincidental oopsie that was too bad.
A few of the educated get it, but not most. Deplorables are more likely to get it, and not just white deplorables who self-identify as “conservative”. Even deplorables will not get it if they have seen too much TV, too much other screen stuff, or are too drugged or otherwise filled with toxins etc. There are other things, but I have to go
At the risk of putting words in Karl’s mouth, my interpretation is people fail to connect the dots, both around them, and from the past.
Example: these government turds have lied and cheated for decades. But I’ll trust them on the “vaccine.”
Example: gee, maybe a dose of socialism isn’t all bad. But I’ll ignore the historic track record of endless train wrecks and slaughtering of people in the name of “socialism or communism.”
Example: Those riots in Portland, Minneapolis, etc etc are dead wrong. Antifa/BLM are movements trying to help make things better.
In other words, they get something right, but fail to form a cohesive perspective on how all of these things tie together – past, present and anticipate/expected/predictable future. Myopia in the extreme.
