HUI and History Ryming
I want to start by stating that I am still learning and not in the same class as the majority that post on here, however, I do like to see if we can learn from previous moves from the past as per Fully’s posts about the HUI.
Have a look at the graph below of the Hui and see the period from April 2004 to May 2005. I wonder if this is where we are now. It had a fall from 235 to around 178 and then moved sideways for a period then rallied to around 240 in the October/November. It then fell back to 185 the following May 2005 and then it took off to 385.
Now I know its a long time to wait until May 2018 and hopefully this time it may be quicker, but a rally into Oct/Nov followed by a further consolidation might be possible followed by a major rally in Spring 2018 when many may have given up on the miners. On the other hand it might be like 2008/09!! I wish I had not started this now.
Happy Easter Odd Job . This is Eggzactly what I am talking about. Rambus showed this potential and referenced that period in a post he did back in Septemberish 2016.
This is how markets work. A strong impulse move ….we sure had that from Jan 2016 to Aug 2016!
Followed by a period of consolidation where the bulls and bears duke it out . that 04 -05 period was a full 2 year consolidation. Nobody knew for sure when it would end or which way it would breakout. Looking back it was 6 months down 6 months up 6 months down then the impulse move started (after 18 months) but the breakout to new highs wasn’t until 6 more months …so 2 years in total. It is a good exercise to review that classic consolidation. If this period rhymes we will not breakout to new highs until summer 2018 but the next impulse move would begin from around HUI 160 say next January. Loading up there could be a real trip. But you re right, most will have given up by then. Great work to bring this to the front burner.
Thanks Fully and Happy Easter. It is going to be fascinating seeing this chart develop over the next 12 months.
Visiting London at the moment at the Tall ships festival at Royal Arsenal and it is a great sunny day 🙂
Off to eat some street food now and down a few beers!
