FBI Director Kash Patel to be named Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) chief
Patel is set to lead an agency that’s been a frequent target of Republicans, including an effort to abolish it altogether.
Patel’s appointment could be made official as soon as next week with a swearing-in ceremony, the sources said.
The ATF, a law enforcement agency housed in the Department of Justice, is responsible for enforcing federal laws regarding the illegal use, sale and trafficking of firearms and explosives, as well as the illegal diversion of alcohol and tobacco products.
He didnt have enough on his plate ?
Comment on a post –> Remember when Marco Rubio was made acting head of USAID? Will ATF meet the same fate?
I believe so. This is like the third or fourth time that the Secretary of the Cabinet Dept. was also named as the head of a specific division under his/her jurisdiction. I believe that Trump intends to eliminate or at least reign in those smaller divisions and rather than appointing someone temporarily until he is able to do so(may need congressional action) letting the Cabinet Sec. have the title since they are the boss anyway.
