Trump is doing what needs doing after the US, and NATO, were destroyed by Russia in Ukraine. That is to say, he’s capitulating. It would be a mistake to read anything further into these talks. Russia trusts neither the U.S. nor Trump. They wish to have a business like relationship so that they might deal professionally with each other, and that as far as it will go. The globalists are a problem for the west, not Russia. The fading empire can be dangerous – that is why they want a business like arrangement, but Russia is focused on the BRICS. Trump should be open to joining those nations to expand trade, but he won’t be. All the nice talk we will hear over the next few months is just that, talk.

The US is far smaller than China in term of their economy. As well, their economy is massively inflated by unproductive financialization and government borrowing. They are also completely dependent on Chinese production. Russia has friendly relations with China, but is not dependent on them.

In the past the US was worried that Russia and Europe would compliment each other. One with cheap gas and resources to feed the powerhouse that was Germany. A win-win situation the US could not tolerate. The termination of Nordstream and the bizarre New Green deal killed off Germanys industry. The Migrants will finish Germany off as a country.
