A couple of comments: First yeah the FAA knows heart damage has occurred they have an EKG baseline on every pilot who is required to take one every year. So done, no doubt. Lower the standard, no problem right until we get 2 guys croak at the same time.
His statement at the 2:45 mark is incorrect. Yes the government handed out billions to the airlines in 2020, but that was not to make things appear to be ok. It was just to keep them from going bankrupt while the jets just sate on the ground.
Can you imagine how much this covid scheme cost us all!
Or one croaking, whilst the other pilot is in the bathroom.
Or one croaking during a critical flight phase, like late finals in bad weather, or rotate at takeoff.
Or one croaking during an emergency.
Then we have the military and civil single pilot scenarios.
It is a cluster fuck.
